“The journey towards helping others began with the journey towards helping myself; I learned to overcome chronic mental and physical health conditions through self-love and self-care, and this lit a passion inside me.”

Therapy is fascinating.

From a young age, my fascination with the world of therapy was evident.

Inspired by my aunt's work as a therapist, I set my sights on this path when I was just 10 years old. Gifted with the ability to listen and support, people—friends, family, even strangers—naturally gravitated toward me, sharing their issues and emotions, paving the way for my empathetic nature to shine.

My journey into the realm of social work began as a medical social worker. As I worked with chronically ill patients daily, I discovered a crucial connection between poor lifestyle habits, poor mental health, poor physical health, and chronic health conditions. It was clear to me that the reason why individuals with diabetes and other chronic conditions kept coming back to the hospital was because they were not changing their lifestyle habits (poor diet, lack of exercise).

They were not addressing the symptoms of low self-esteem and chronic stress.

I became frustrated with the medical system and with the constraints of my role as a medical social worker — my lack of time and knowledge — was not adequate to help people get better and live better...yet.  Frustration grew as I witnessed my limitations in helping individuals truly heal. It was clear that tackling lifestyle habits, mental health, and physical well-being as a whole was the missing link in the puzzle. Something had to change.

Motivated by this realization and my unwavering desire to empower individuals to reach their potential and achieve optimal health, I pursued several post-master's education training in techniques that would best support my mission. It was necessary for me to understand the mind-body-spirit connection full circle to be able to completely support people from a whole-body perspective.

Empowered and on a Mission

A Unique Approach to Psychotherapy

I dove into a one-year health coaching program and yoga teacher education, leading to my certification as a yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), accumulating over 1000 hours of training, I also learned about the connection to hormonal health and the world of reiki energy healing. The summation of my education and training helped shape my spirituality and emphasized the importance of spiritual connection and intuition in healing.

In 2020, I transitioned from medical social work to establish my private practice – Jaclyn Sappah Therapy.

My work as a yoga therapist, reiki master, and health and wellness coach has empowered me to take a holistic and all-encompassing approach to psychotherapy. I value what I’ve learned from the philosophies and practices of each healing art and have found their benefits to be tenfold when combined.

With the influences of various wellness theories, my primary goal in psychotherapy is to support clients in developing skills and practices that activate their body’s relaxation response and regulate their central nervous system. The nervous system doesn’t have to be as nervous as it feels.

Witnessing the transformation in my clients is the most rewarding aspect of my work. Nourishing their souls, I am humbled by the opportunity to help them discover their inner peace and joy, sparing them unnecessary suffering and offering them the happiness they truly deserve.
